Obituary

Ada Adele "Babe" Jones, the daughter of Sanford and Ina Belle Porter Polk was born July 4, 1915 at Fairfax, Missouri. She died on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 13 days. Babe was raised in Coin, Farragut and Shenandoah, Iowa. She graduated from Shenandoah High School. She went to work for Earl May Nursery in Shenandoah as a secretary. Babe was united in marriage to Lowrie H. Jones on December 17, 1938 at St. Joseph, MO. They moved to Red Oak in l946. She lived in Red Oak the next 58 years until her move to Stanton Care Center. Babe and her husband traveled to Missouri, Colorado and Washington to visit family and friends. She would bring many rocks home from the trips. Babe enjoyed dinners out with friends and playing cards, mainly pitch. Babe's coffee bunch ladies were special to her. She also enjoyed cooking for her family. Her favorites were roast turkey, fish, which her husband caught, and a real specialty was frog legs. Some of her pastime activities were reading, cross-stitching, and listening to music such as Lawrence Welk and old time country "The Grand Ole Opry". Babe was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lowrie on June 23, 1997; infant daughter; 3 sisters: Ethel Young, Geneva Stevens and Floida "Toots" Benefiel. Babe is survived by her son, Richard Jones and his wife Wanda of Federal Way, Washington; two grandsons: Troy Jones and Jeff Jones and wife Donna; great-grandson, Colton Jones; and niece, JoElaine Benefiel of Omaha, NE; along with other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 21, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak. Rev.
