Obituary

Alan Reid Johnson, the son of Wesley and Wanda (VanGundy) Johnson was born July 8, 1955 at Alameda, California. He passed away at his home on Friday, November 6, 2020 in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 28 days, following a five-year battle with cancer.

Alan was mostly raised in California. In 1972, the family moved to Red Oak and in 1973, he graduated from Red Oak High School. Alan was united in marriage to Debra Adams in Red Oak. He worked for Red Oak Greenhouse, Heritage Cable, TCI and then for the city of Red Oak, 20 years with the water department. Alan began by reading meters and then transferred to working with the water wells and water quality. He loved playing the guitar and listening to music especially his favorite band, Grateful Dead. Alan really enjoyed watching cooking show on TV, although he didn't cook much. Alan was a beautiful artist expressed in his many drawings and loved to decorate to the fullest for Christmas.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Johnson.

Alan is survived by three children: Joshua (Misty) Johnson of Manhattan, KS, Dustin (Kristie) Johnson of Papillion, NE, and Sarah (James) Crossen of Omaha, NE; 6 grandchildren: Parker Meier, Emma Johnson, Levi Johnson, Payton Johnson, Wesley Johnson and Jacob Crossen; brother, Jeff Johnson of Loveland, CO; sister-in-law, Gayla Johnson of Ft. Collins, CO; and other relatives and friends,

Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
