Obituary

Albert Leo Howard, the son of Otto F. and Azilee A. Byler Howard was born October 14, 1921 in Orongo, Missouri. He died on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Red Oak Rehab & Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 5 months and 19 days. Albert lived his younger years in Missouri. He served his country during WW II in the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army, Albert was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Pauline" Mason on April 26, 1946 in Columbus, Kansas. They lived in 38 states while Albert worked for AT&T. In 1957, they made their home in Red Oak. After the death of Pauline on October 31, 1987, Albert was later married to Mary Herron on June 17, l988 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Mary passed away on March 24, 2011. Albert enjoyed playing his guitar. He was a member of the Red Oak Eagles Lodge and past member of the Elks. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; daughter, Aldena Shaw Bredberg; brothers: Leonard, Darrell, Floyd and Fred; and sisters: Loretta and Alberta. Albert is survived by three sisters: Dixie Joplin, Kathryn Asburg and Darlene Jasper; son-in-law, James Bredberg of Hastings, IA; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Red Oak Rev. Len Taylor, Officiating Burial will take place later at the Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, MO A memorial is being established. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
