Obituary

Aldena Ann Bredberg, the daughter of Albert Leo and Elizabeth Pauline Mason Howard, was born December 9, 1949 at Carthage, Missouri. She died on Monday, May 17, 2010 at her home in Hastings, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 8 days. Ann spent the first eight years of her life in 38 states, since her father was employed with AT&T. The family moved to Red Oak area in l957. She attended elementary school, Jr. High and High School at Essex, Iowa. Ann was united in marriage to Richard A. Shaw on April 12, 1975 in Red Oak, Iowa. After several moves they became residents of Emerson, Iowa in l977. While in the Emerson, Ann was involved and member of: Emerson First Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School, Women's Fellowship Bible Study, Emerson Chapter 121 Order of Eastern Star, Girl Scout leader, Nishnabotna Council leader, Neighborhood Day Camp Director, and volunteered in Nishna Valley sports and music programs. She was a founding member and officer of S.W. Iowa Regional EMS Council, Mills County EMS, Emerson First Responders and Emerson Volunteer Fire Department. Ann was an Iowa State certified EMT-B and American Heart Association CPR instructor. She had also served on the Mills County Republican Party Committee and Mills County election official in Emerson. Ann had worked as a waitress, sales clerk, secretary and for the past 19 years employed with CDS Global in Red Oak. Ann's first husband Richard Shaw died on November 13, 1999. She was then united in marriage to James Bredberg on September 23, 2003 in Red Oak, Iowa. Ann most recently was a member of the Red Oak First Baptist Church being active with the music, youth and Wednesday prayer programs. Ann was preceded in death by her mother and husband Richard. Ann is survived by her husband, James Bredberg of Hastings, IA; daughters: Dorothy Jordan Ogundipe and Jennifer Shaw of Emerson, IA; step children: Darold Bredberg of Hastings, IA; Michael Bredberg and wife Dawn of Tabor, IA; Joseph Bredberg and wife Tiffany of Shenandoah, IA; Tammy Turek and husband James of Essex, IA; Katie Davison and husband Craig of Siam, IA; 2 grandchildren: Kyle Stanley and Layne Shaw Mastin; 10 step-grandchildren; father, Albert Howard of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Red Oak Rev. Len Taylor, Officiating Special note: Ann's request was for everyone to bring their favorite frog to the service. Visitation with the family present on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
