Obituary

Alfred Dale Wallin, the son of Alfred and Antonia Lindburg Wallin was born March 31, 1923 near Bethesda, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 26 days. Dale was raised near Bethesda, Iowa attending area country schools and graduating from Essex High School. Following graduation, he began a farming career in partnership with his mother. Dale was united in marriage to Lois Sederburg on August 17, 1951 in Bethesda, Iowa. Dale and Lois moved into a farm house and began their lifelong partnership together. After several years of hard work, they were able to purchase their own farm and moved to their new home in 1963. They were joined by four sons: Gene, Paul, Mark and Greg. Dale and Lois were lifelong members of the Bethesda Lutheran Church where they taught Sunday School and served on various committees. Dale also participated in a number of community activities including a men's chorus, Essex Commercial Club, and had served as a 4-H leader for a number of years. Dale and Lois retired from farming and moved to Red Oak in 1985. He developed a number of new interests including golfing, morning coffee with the guys, and helping son, Greg open a plumbing shop. He greatly enjoyed all of his new activities. Dale and Lois enjoyed traveling together and for many years went to Arizona to spend winters with southwest Iowa friends. Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Lois on September 13, 2010; 3 sisters: Grace Larson, Margaret Wallin and Jean Wallin; and granddaughter, Danielle Wallin. Dale is survived by 4 sons: Gene and Mary Lou Wallin of Houston, TX; Paul and Sue Wallin of Wasilla, AK; Mark Wallin of Ft. Madison, IA; and Greg and Jolene Wallin of Bethesda, IA; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Charles Larson of Clarinda, IA; and Wayne and Rogene Sederburg of Essex, IA; sister-in-law, Karen Patterson of Essex, IA; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. May God bless his memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Bethesda, IA Burial in the Bethesda Cemetery Rev. Jerry Lamb, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Tuesday evening, May 29 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials may be directed to the Bethesda Lutheran Church. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
