Obituary

Alice Mary Lantz, the daughter of Ernest and Grace Lloyd Linn, was born January 27, 1927 in Stanton, Iowa. She died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 1 day. Alice was raised on a farm near Elliott, Iowa. She was born with a condition called congenital hip and did not start school until age six. In 1944, the Linn family moved to the "Billings" place. Because her mother Grace's health was so poor, Alice stayed home to care for her for six months. Shortly after, Alice began working at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak and soon became a LPN. She worked at the hospital for 12 years, until she met Merrill Lantz. Alice was united in marriage to Merrill Lantz on June 17, 1956 in Red Oak, Iowa. She lived and worked alongside of Merrill on their farm until 1982, when they moved into Stanton. Alice was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She became a resident of Stanton Care Center in 2010. Alice was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Merrill on May 23, 2004. Alice is survived by her two sons: Kirk Lantz and wife Karla of Stanton, IA; and Rev. Leland Lantz and wife Marcia of Laguna Hills, CA; six grandchildren: Aaron and wife Erica, Joshua, Jessica, Ethan, Emilie and Jonathan; two sisters: Sara Peterson of Red Oak, IA and Barbara Focht of Villisca, IA; two brothers: Darwin Linn and wife Martha of Corning, IA; and Jack Linn of Villisca, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
