Obituary

Ann A. Burgan, the daughter of Frank J. and Anna Topenka Wolrab was born April 22, 1920 in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Hospice with Heart House of Glenwood, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 4 days. Ann was raised and graduated from high school at Mt. Vernon, Iowa. She then attended beauty school in Des Moines, Iowa. Ann was united in marriage to Maurice J. Martin on February 6, 1946 at Belle Plaine, Iowa. The first beauty shop she owned was in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She and Maurice moved to Atlantic, Iowa in l949 where they owned and operated a hotel business, along with a restaurant, bar, beauty & barber shop along with a laundromat, all at the same location. Ann later married William G. Burgan on June 10, 1967 in Omaha, Nebraska. Ann and William moved to Red Oak in l969. She loved to play golf and was a member of the Red Oak Country Club for many years. Ann enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, especially when they came to her house. She enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours working in her yard and flower beds. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband: William on April 21, 1996; and brother: Milo Wolrab. Ann is survived by two sons: Patrick Martin and wife Vicki of Moorpark, CA; and Steve Martin and wife Deb of Glenwood, IA; four grandchildren: Joe and wife Dr. Leslie Martin of Omaha, NE; B.J. and Erin Martin of Glenwood, IA; Holly and Jeff Borgelt of Laurel, MS and Heather Martin of Moorpark, CA; brother: Francis Wolrab of Mt. Vernon, IA; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Burial in Evergreen Cemetery Rev. Alan Dean, Officiating Visitation with the family present on Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials to Hospice with Heart House of Glenwood, IA Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
