Anna LaVerne Wendt Tomlinson was born January 16, 1921, in Scranton, Kansas, to Frederick William and Eva Mabel (Michael) Wendt. She passed away on March 25, 2014, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rogers, Arkansas at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 9 days. Anna was married to Dean Martin Tomlinson on August 15, 1945, in Holton, Kansas. While Dean was in the Army during WW II, his mother had a subscription of the Cappers Weekly sent to him. Anna, working for Cappers Weekly at that time, had a co-worker dare her to send him a letter. They met, fell in love and were married for 55 years. They farmed west of Red Oak, and then northeast of Red Oak until 1972, when they moved to Rogers, Arkansas. She attended Rogers Christian Church. Anna enjoyed gardening, playing cards and bingo. Anna and Dean also enjoyed their frequent travels across the United States and used that travel to research their family history, compiling hundreds of pages of genealogical information and making numerous friends in the process. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean on February 11, 2000; sisters, Bertha and Evelyn; and brothers, Ray, Ralph and Arlon. Anna is survived by her sons: Raymond (Roselyn) Tomlinson of Mesa, Arizona, and Ed (Marilyn) Tomlinson of Saint Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren: Sean, Angela, Amy and Gary; nine great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law: Mrs. Faye Wookey of Emerson, IA, Mrs. Fern Taylor of Lincoln, NE, Mrs. Lois Woodfill of Malvern, IA, Launita Rake and Irene Wendt of Topeka, KS; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Burial in Evergreen Cemetery Rev. JoAnn Thomas, Officiating Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials to Rogers Christian Church in Rogers, Arkansas.
