Obituary

Arthur "Bud" Samuel Briggs, the son of Ivan and Jeanette (Bartlett) Briggs was born March 2, 1935 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 18 days.

Bud was raised in Red Oak, graduating from Red Oak High School in 1954. He entered the U.S. Army in September of 1955. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged on September 9, 1957. He returned to Red Oak and worked for Iowa DOT, owned his own bar, worked for Anderson Landscaping and most recently, for the car wash in Red Oak. Bud was united in marriage to Kathryn Long on July 17, 1989 in Red Oak, Iowa. Bud enjoyed being on his porch at home and would wave at all who came by. He would spend time watching birds and squirrels play. He had great respect for the United States flag and how it was to be flown. Bud was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Red Oak. His love for his children, nieces and nephews was endless.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kathryn on March 1, 2008; sister, Gloria Kinser; brothers: Eugene and Howard.

Bud is survived by his children: Cindy (Mike) Echternach of Red Oak, IA; Jeff Briggs of Red Oak, Iowa; Tina (Jody) Krug of Plattsmouth, NE; Tanya (Jeff) Petry of Bennington, NE; Lynn (Amy) Briggs of Orange City, FL; Terry (Lisa) Briggs of Chadron, NE and Jeff (April) Briggs of Tula vista, CA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Vanderhoof of Red Oak, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside service will be held

Monday, November 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa

Rev. Gary Walters, Officiating

Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for procession to the cemetery.
