Arvid Edwin Peterson, the son of Ernest and Elnore (Singbush) Peterson was born August 22, 1931 in Terril, Iowa. He passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Red Oak Healthcare Community, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 30 days. Arvid was raised in South Dakota. After graduating from high school he farmed for a number of years before working at a grain company. Arvid was united in marriage to Ruby Roberts and they moved to Iowa. After Ruby's passing Arvid met and married Nellie Gard and moved to Missouri. Following the death of Nellie, Arvid moved to the Nodaway, Iowa area and on May 16, 1996 was united in marriage to Dorotha Douthit in Clarinda, Iowa. Arvid and Dorotha made their home in Red Oak where they were close to Dorotha's children. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents and three wives. Arvid is survived by his step-children: Robert Link and wife Darla of New Market, IA; Carolyn Kay Johnson of Thornton, IA; Donald Douthit and wife Kim of Clarinda, IA; Donna Lilly and husband Seaton of Clarinda, IA; Kenneth Douthit and special friend Christina Volquartsen of Red Oak, IA; and David Douthit and wife Tina of Neosho, MO; 15 step-grandchildren and 16 step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Private Graveside Memorial Service will be held at the Bonaparte Cemetery, Bonaparte, Iowa at a later date. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home assisting the family with arrangements.
