Awanda Jane Woods, the daughter of Harry and Essie (Wilson) Laire was born October 16, 1928 at Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 2 days.
Awanda was raised in the Red Oak and Stennett areas and graduated from Stennett High School. On November 27, 1946 Awanda was united in marriage to Glendon R. Woods at Hiawatha, Kansas. To this union a son, Greg was born. Awanda worked many years for Union Carbide Battery Company in Red Oak, from which she retired. Awanda enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She loved bowling and being with her bowling friends.
Awanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glendon on January 7, 1991; daughter-in-law, Deborah Woods; sister, Gloria Gilchrest; and brothers: Jerold, Mervin, Loring and Newell.
Awanda is survived by her son, Greg Woods of Stanton, IA; 2 grandsons: Ryan Woods of Shenandoah, IA and Chris Woods of Malvern, IA; and great-grandson, Abel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa.
