Obituary

Barbara Jeanne Belt, the daughter of Wilburn and Norma (Gray) Cook was born January 7, 1947 at Shenandoah, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 69 years and 10 days.

Barbara was raised in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Joe Belt on June 10, 1963 in Red Oak, Iowa. During their marriage, Barb and Joe moved 43 times due to Joe's military and then professional career, living in California the longest span of 16 years. While in California, Barb managed a Bombay store, along with being a professional home decorator. They moved to Red Oak in 2000, purchasing All About Flowers and Gifts, where Barb put her talents to work. When her multiple sclerosis flared up, she retired. Barb enjoyed shopping with her children and friends, and being active in the Red Oak community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society and past member of Monday Club and Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered in The Lemon Tree Gift Shop. Barb loved her family dearly.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Maddison Jo; sister, Nancy Sexton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bert and Marjorie Belt.

Barb is survived by her husband, Joe Belt of Mesquite, NV; children: Kevin Belt and wife Wendy of Highlands Ranch, CO; Wendy Madden and husband John of Freeport, TX; Stacey Moreno and husband Nacho of Whittier, CA; and Gavin Belt and wife Stephanie of Mesquite, NV; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and sister, Linda DeBar and husband Tom of Council Bluffs, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
