Bertha Alice Brooks, the daughter of Godart and Ruby (Neuschwanger) Vander Hart was born April 17, 1941, in Pella, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Stanton, Iowa, at the age of 82 years, 6 months, and 29 days.

Bertha was raised in Pella, Iowa. After graduating from school in Pella, she worked a short time in Newton, Iowa, before moving to Melbourne, Florida, in l964. Bertha was united in marriage to Edwin Brooks on November 14, 1964. She worked for many years at Patrick Air Force base. She battled Multiple Sclerosis and was confined to a wheelchair for over half her life. Bertha enjoyed playing cards, games and watching sports on television. She was an avid crocheter and had made hundreds of blankets. Bertha moved to Stanton in 2019, where she was a resident of Accura Healthcare of Stanton.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin on August 12, 2017; sisters: Betty (Glen) Benskin and Ruby Mae Pope; stepsons: Michael and Ronald; stepdaughter, Carol and stepgrandson, Ron.

Bertha is survived by her brother, Richard (Rita) Vander Hart of New Berlin, WI; sister, Nancy (Jerry) Hacker of Prescott Valley, AZ; nieces and nephews: Deb, Barb, Cheryl, Cindy, Duane, Lee, Kim, Jack, and Cathy; stepson, Ed Brooks; stepdaughter-in-law, Lindy Brooks; stepgrandchildren: Lynna, Angel, Rachel, Kristy, Jodie, Molly, Ryan, Stephanie, Tiffany, Michelle, Michael and Crystal; other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Lewellen Studio, Stanton, Iowa.

Cremation has taken place and burial will be held later in Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge, Florida.
