Betty Jean Bryson, the daughter of Clifford and Blanche (Rupp) Pettengill was born May 13, 1926 at Villisca, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 14 days. Betty graduated from Villisca High School in l944. She was united in marriage to Don Bryson on May 10, 1945 at Villisca, Iowa. Betty and Don moved to Grant, Iowa after Don's military service in World War II, living there for 55 years. They owned and operated the P& B service station and café for 45 years. In December of 1996 they moved to Red Oak. She enjoyed reading, spending time with family and loved baby sitting her great-grandchildren for many years. Betty was a member of the Grant United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don on July 25, 2000 and sister, Dorothy Baker. Betty is survived by a son, Robert Bryson and his wife Janet of Clarinda, Iowa and a daughter, Jeanne Johnson and her husband Howard of Red Oak, Iowa; 2 granddaughters, Robin Culbertson and her husband Scott and Abbey Heimensen and her husband Collin; 2 great-granddaughter, Olivia and Carlee Culbertson; 3 sisters-in-law: Mrs. Martha Tibken of Cumberland, Iowa, Mrs. Marcella Jarvis of Red Oak, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Weston of Red Oak, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Inurnment will be Friday, October 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Grant Cemetery Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Family request memorial in lieu of flowers to the Carlee Culbertson Medical Fund and sent to Jeanne Johnson 103 E. Linden St. Red Oak, Iowa Sellergren Lindell DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
