Betty Lou Crowe, the daughter of Francis "Ted" and Gladys Keim Fort was born November 4, 1929 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 23 days. Betty lived her entire life in Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School with the class of l948. Betty was united in marriage to Leland "Jim" Crowe on September 5, 1948 in Red Oak, Iowa. She worked 27 years for Thos D. Murphy Calendar Company. Betty enjoyed watching old movies and singing, along with relaxing on her swing outside her home and taking car rides. She was an animal lover being especially fond of dogs. The most significant part of her life was her grandchildren and family. Betty was an encourager and never said a mean word to anyone. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the 15-20 year club of Thos D. Murphy Company. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Jim Crowe on March 16, 1996; daughter: Denise Clark; sister: Joyce Gesirech and great-grandson: Keaton Clark. Betty is survived by two daughters: Pamela Hughes and husband Loren of Dows, IA and Kathy Sorensen and husband Leroy of Stanton, IA; son-in-law: David Clark of Boone, IA; 11 grandchildren: Kim, Lynn, Jessi, Michelle, Dawn, Tricia, Caleigh, Ted, Chris, Mary and Mindy; 24 great-grandchildren: brothers: William Fort and wife Doris of Red Oak, IA and Jack Fort and wife Delores of Red Oak, IA; sisters: Mary Carlson of Kansas City, MO and Jeanne Doughten of Ankeny, IA; brother-in-law: Rollin Gesirech of Urbandale, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives along with a host of friends.
