Obituary

Beulah Marie Dykes, the daughter of George and Edna (Archer) Buckner was born November 20, 1922 at Bridgewater, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Red Oak Rehab and Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 4 days.

Beulah was raised on a farm near Bridgewater and graduated from Bridgewater High School. In 1950, she made Red Oak her home. Beulah was united in marriage to Jimmie W. Dykes on August 28, 1951 at Red Oak, Iowa. Over the years, Beulah worked for Union Carbide Battery Company, Holiday Inn, and the Murphy Calendar Company. She then helped many families by cleaning their homes. Beulah enjoyed her large gardens and canning its vegetables and fruits, cooking, chocolate ice cream and watermelon. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly and treasured spending time with them.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmie; son, Russell "Bud" Dykes; grandsons, Michael B. Johnson Jr. and Ryan Hester; great-granddaughter, Delilah Jo Nelson; brother, Leon Buckner and sister, Lolah Scase.

Beulah is survived by 8 children: Ronda (Marvin) Tippery of Red Oak, IA, Ruth (Gary) Trudgeon of Lebanon, OR, Cheryl Barbour of Red Oak, IA, Teresa (Dennis) Hester of Spring, TX, Kathy (Steve) Newell of Bristow, OK, Jimmie Marie (Monte) Most of Council Bluffs, IA, Wilma Dykes of Red Oak, IA, and Roger (Julie) Dykes of Calendar, IA; daughter-in-law, Terry Dykes of Bristow, OK; over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty (Norman) Parrot of Greenfield, IA; sister-in-law, Ivadell Berray of Bristow, OK; special friends, Les and Carla Kirchert of Essex, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family present on Wednesday evening, February 27 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
