Bonnie Louise Downs, the daughter of Harry and Eunice (Carpenter) Morse was born August 1, 1927 at Dorchester, Nebraska. She passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at age of 91 years, 6 months and 12 days.
Bonnie was raised in Crete, Nebraska. She graduated from Crete High School and attended Lincoln General Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Bonnie was proud to have been the last class in the Cadet Nurse Corps, during World War II. On August 19, 1951, Bonnie was united in marriage to Don Downs at Crete, Nebraska. They lived in Harrisburg and Neligh, Nebraska before making their home in Red Oak in 1965. While in Red Oak, Bonnie worked at Good Samaritan Society a few years, before she began her long career at Dr. Rodmond Smith's office. Bonnie enjoyed playing cards, traveling and volunteering with the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a big animal lover and over the years loved on her many pet dogs and cats. Her cat, Bugsy accompanied her to their new home at Arlington Place. Bonnie was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Monday Club and P.E.O. Chapter HB, all of Red Oak.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Don on October 18, 1981.
Bonnie is survived by her two children: Bruce (Debra) Downs of Cave Creek, AZ and Ann Downs of Magnolia, TX; granddaughter, Meaghan Downs of Weatherford, TX; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation and Viewing on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a P.E.O. service held at 6:00 p.m.
Memorials directed to the American Dog Vet Program or Presbyterian Church in Red Oak.
