Cheryl Lavon Dykes Barbour, the daughter of Jimmie and Beulah (Buckner) Dykes was born February 16, 1953, in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, the age of 68 years, 5 months and 3 days.

Cheryl was raised in Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1971, and had worked at the LRC. Cheryl was a fantastic artist and loved to decorate making any home or setting beautiful. She also had a lovely singing voice and enjoyed music and dancing. Cheryl dearly loved her children and grandchildren and was always looking forward to the next event. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Pat Beeson and Richard Barbour; brother, Russell "Bud" Dykes and granddaughter, Delilah Nelson.

Cheryl is survived by her six children: Ami (Mark) Galvan of Council Bluffs, IA, Cody Dykes of Council Bluffs, IA, Jesse Dykes and fiancé Jack Kalkowski of Council Bluffs, IA, Nick (Amy) Vargas of Council Bluffs, IA, Jacob Vargas of Red Oak, IA and Derek Barbour of Malvern, IA; 13 grandchildren and siblings: Ronda (Marvin) Tippery of Council Bluffs, IA, Ruth (Gary) Trudgeon of Albany, OR, Teresa (Dennis) Hester of Spring, TX, Kathy (Steve) Newell of Bristow, OK, Jimmie (Monte) Most of Council Bluffs, IA, Wilma Dykes of Red Oak, IA and Roger (Julie) Dykes of Red Oak, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA

Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Red Oak Eagles Lodge from 12:00 noon - 2:00 p.m.
