Courtney Marie Leming, the daughter of Lucky and Clarice M. Hickman Leming was born October 14, 1997 in Omaha, Nebraska. She passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from injuries sustained in an ATV accident in Montgomery County, Iowa at the age of 11 years, 6 months and 9 days. Courtney lived in Omaha and Papillion, Nebraska until 2007, when she moved to Red Oak, along with her mother and brother. Courtney was a sixth grade student at the Red Oak Middle School. She enjoyed participating in the National America Miss Pageants. Courtney loved all sports, particularly basketball and softball which she played. She also loved to dance, sing, and go camping. Courtney had a heart for animals and had hopes of either becoming a veterinarian or dance choreographer. Courtney was full of life and her favorite quote was "Live, Laugh and Love." The short time Courtney lived in Red Oak, she had made many friends that had become very special to her, both kids and adults. Courtney was currently in confirmation classes at the First United Methodist Church in Red Oak. Courtney was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kenneth Doc Leming. Courtney is survived by her mother, Clarice Leming of Red Oak, IA; father, Lucky Leming of Papillion, NE; brother, Christian Leming of Red Oak, IA; paternal grandmother, Pat Leming of Papillion, NE; maternal grandparents: Terry Hickman of Benson, NE; and Judy Hickman of Montrose, CO; aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives, along with many friends. Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Red Oak Burial at 2:30 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, 2300 S 78th Street, Omaha, NE Rev. Fred Pilecki, Officiating Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Sunday, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the family.
