January 1, 1945 – August 21, 2019
Dale R. Watson, the son of William and Mattie (Jones) Watson was born January 1, 1945 at Vancouver, Washington. He passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 20 days.
Dale was raised in Omaha, where he graduated from high school and participated in the ROTC program. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1963 and was stationed all over the world. Dale served three tours of duty in Vietnam and received an honorable discharge on July 31, 1987. He lived in Virginia and owned his own painting business before moving to Stanton, Iowa. On October 18, 2002, Dale was united in marriage to Nevada Casteel at Villisca, Iowa. For 13 years, he was an over the road truck driver. Dale loved to work on old cars and ride his motorcycle. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association in Atlantic, Iowa, and the Calvary Baptist Church in Clarinda, Iowa, where he served as a Deacon. Dale was also a member of the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post 406 in Stanton, Iowa.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Mann, sister-in-law, Dorothy Watson; and step-grandson, Mitchell Knapp.
Dale is survived by his wife, Nevada of Stanton, Iowa; sons: Dale "Butch" Watson Jr. of Odessa, TX, William (Jennifer) Watson III of Newport, VA and Daniel (Haidee) Watson of Tucson, AZ; 2 step-children: Julie (Justin) White and Amanda Serna and fiancé Justin Hall all of Red Oak, IA; 3 grandchildren: Tabitha Jaworek, Bailey Watson and Augusta Watson; 2 great-grandchildren: Steven and Caydon; 9 step-grandchildren: Michael, Mariah, Cayden, Paola, Ukume, Raelynn, Dawson, Colton and Alydia; 2 brothers: Larry Watson of Stanton, IA and David Watson of Reno, Nevada; and brother-in-law, Danny Stogdill of Red Oak, IA; other relatives and friends.
