Daniel Anthony Carlson, the son of Richard and Frances (Carlsward) Carlson was born March 31, 1954, in Villisca, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Stratford Specialty Care in Stratford, Iowa, at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 6 days.

Dan grew up in Villisca. He loved playing Bluejay football while in high school and in 1972, graduated from Villisca High School. Dan attended North Iowa Technical College in Mason City, Iowa,  where he learned commercial cleaning. Dan took pride in the school buildings he cared for as a school custodian. In 2011, Dan moved to Clarinda, Iowa, where he worked at his own business of yard maintenance and snow removal.

Dan was preceded in death by parents, sisters: Beverly Westenburg and her husband, Bob, and LaDonna Raney; brothers: Dick Carlson and his wife, Joy, and Bill Carlson.

Dan is survived by his brothers: Darrell Carlson of Red Oak, IA and Roger (Mary Jo) Carlson of Marion, IA; sister, Marcia (Bob) Sierp of Onalaska, WI; brother-in-law, Jim Raney of Stanton, IA; and sister-in-law, Carol Anne Carlson of Clarinda, IA; Candy & Tim Shaw who helped care for Dan the last several years; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside Memorial Service will be held on
Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Arlington Cemetery, rural Stanton, Iowa.
