Obituary

Dr. Darwin Merle Larson, the son Clarence A. and Inice (Crist) Larson was born February 20, 1938 at Pine River, Minnesota. He passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society at Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 79 years and 1 month.

Darwin entered the U. S. Air Force following high school. He served at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, MS and Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX, before his discharge on June 30, 1958. Darwin was united in marriage to Patricia McCunn. After earning his college degree, Darwin worked in vocational rehabilitation. He was then director of a rehab center, and for many years, a college Associate Professor, before returning to Iowa to farm. After farming awhile, Darwin returned to college and received his PhD. Throughout his life, he lived in many states, Missouri, Texas, Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Colorado, New York and Iowa. After the death of his wife, Patricia, he continued his counseling work as semi-retired. The last 15-20 years, Darwin was fully retired.

Darwin was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia on January 28, 1992; son, Rodmond Larson; and brothers, Carl Larson and Loyd Larson.

Darwin is survived by his son, Brian Larson of Fort Worth, TX and daughter, Christie Repaal and husband Rocky of Bellevue, NE; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Axel Larson and wife Bette of Red Oak, IA and sister, Judy McFarland and husband Bill of Red Oak, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 24, 2017 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM.

Burial will be held later in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA.

A memorial is being established in Darwin's name.
