John Lundgren

Delaine Charles John Lundgren, the son of Arthur F. and Minnie L. (Hylt) Lundgren, was born on September 9, 1931, in Nodaway Township of Page County, Iowa. He passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Crown Pointe Care Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 15 days.
Delaine was baptized on October 19, 1931, and confirmed on June 4, 1944, at Fremont Covenant Church. Delaine attended country school and after graduating from Essex High School in 1950, he farmed with his father. He served in the Army from February 1953 to February 1955 with the Nike Missile Battalion. On May 15, 1954, Delaine was united in marriage to LaVose Dahlstrom at Tabor Lutheran Church. Delaine was a member of Fremont Covenant Church and then the Faith Covenant Church in Essex, after the two churches merged. He was very active and served over the years as a trustee, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. He also served on the Twin Lakes Christian Center board, the Farmers Telephone Company board, the Southwest Iowa REC board, and was a 4-H leader. Delaine's greatest loves were his family and his farm.
Delaine was preceded in death by his wife, LaVose, on November 17, 2017; son, Jeff, on April 19, 2008; his parents; infant brother, Clemens; and sister, Marvis Leech.
Delaine is survived by son, Jerry (Barb) Lundgren, of Omaha, NE; daughter-in-law, Karen Lundgren, of Essex, IA; six grandchildren: Mary (Bryan) Clark of Shenandoah, IA, Michael (Laura) Lundgren of Appleton, WI, John Lundgren of Chicago, IL, Emma (Wyatt) Girton of Thief River Falls, MN, Beth (Seth) Harvey of Shawnee, KS, and Kathryn Lundgren of Omaha, NE; five great-grandchildren: Claire, Emilia and Eliza Lundgren and Alex and Levi Clark; sister, Regina Welsch, of Stanton, IA; and brother-in-law, Lavon (Martha) Dahlstrom, of Clive, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
