Dennis Lynn Slater, the son of Delbert and Kathryn Wright Slater was born December 26, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, the age of 62 years, 5 months and 28 days. Dennis was raised in the Red Oak area, the family having lived on several farms. He graduated with the Red Oak High School class of l966. Dennis furthered his education at Iowa Western Community College, Clarinda, IA. He traveled some before moving to Omaha, NE and then Council Bluffs, IA. Dennis was united in marriage to Marlene K. Kopecky on May 26, 1973 in Red Oak, IA. In 1978, Dennis and Marlene made their home in Red Oak. He worked many years for First National Bank in Omaha as a computer operator. Dennis enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his father. Dennis is survived by his wife: Marlene K. Slater of Red Oak, IA; mother: Kathryn Slater of Red Oak, IA; brother: Alden Slater of Red Oak, IA; and sister: Sandra Allen of Houston, TX; along with other relatives and friends. Memorial Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
