Obituary

Dennis Earl Smith, the son of Ralph and Florence (Morhain) Smith was born February 11, 1955, at Villisca, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his home in rural Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 69 years, 5 months and 30 days.

Dennis was raised on a farm south of Nodaway, Iowa, and graduated from Villisca High School. On July 5, 1974, Dennis was united in marriage to Paula F. McAlister at Blum, Texas, and two sons were born to this union, Lonnie and Joe. Dennis was a printer by trade. Over his working career, he worked at Thos D. Murphy Calendar Company, Jordan Company and later, at the Red Oak Express. Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his dogs. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye football. Dennis enjoyed supporting his boys and loved to attend all their sporting events.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Paula on June 29, 2021; sister, Joan Garnatz; and three brothers: Wayne, Gary and Donnie Smith.

Dennis is survived by his two sons: Lonnie Smith of Waldon, IA and Joe (Heather) Smith of Red Oak, IA; six grandchildren; and six sisters: Joyce Marasco, Judy Snipes, Jolene Geske, Jeanne Stull, Jeri Goodkind, and Jackie Lininger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
