Diana Lea Sabo, the daughter of Robert and Irene (Jensen) Shellberg was born May 1, 1952 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away at her home in Stanton, Iowa on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 17 days.

Diana was raised on a farm just outside of Stanton. In 1970, she graduated from Stanton High School and then attended Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska to earn her Registered Nurse degree. Diana was united in marriage to Francis James in 1971, and to this union a son, Jeffrey was born. After graduation, Diana began her 27-year career at the Murphy Memorial Hospital, later named Montgomery County Memorial Hospital. She provided care to in-hospital patients, later to those in the coronary care unit, and finally worked in the surgery room. In 2001, Diana was united in marriage to Don Sabo. Diana continued her career at Nebraska Methodist Hospital, Nebraska VNA, Montgomery County Public Health, and Adams County Home Health and Hospice. She was a caring lady who enjoyed helping people feel better and was also known as the neighborhood nurse. Diana and Don enjoyed traveling and visiting family in the southern and western United States. She also loved reading, gardening, the grandkids and their vacation home in Arkansas. Diana was a member of the Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Stanton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Irene Shellberg.

Diana is survived by her husband, Don Sabo of Stanton, IA; children: Jeffrey (Brooke) James of Stanton, IA; Krista Sabo of Villisca, IA, and Steve Sabo of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Braxton James of Stanton, IA, Kolton Schutt, Kailyn and Kaleb Pritchard, all of Villisca, IA; siblings: Janice (Terry) Foote of Elliott, IA, Gary (Jody) Shellberg of Stanton, IA and Sandra (Scott) Nelson of Atlantic, IA; nephews, grand-nieces, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Private Family Memorial Graveside Service will be held
Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Mamre Cemetery, Stanton, Iowa
