Dolores Virginia Fort, the daughter of Wallace Paul and Evelyn (Hultquist) Swanson, was born April 20, 1929, in Stanton, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Fox Run Assisted Living, Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 1 day.

Dolores was raised in Stanton until the family moved to Red Oak, where she graduated from Red Oak High School. On October 26, 1947, Dolores was united in marriage to Jack Fort in Red Oak. Dolores was a wonderful homemaker as her family was her priority. She loved to bake and enjoyed growing and tending to her flower gardens. She also enjoyed having coffee with friends. Dolores was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Red Oak. In 2019, she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, to be closer to her family.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack on November 20, 2017, and sister, Lenore Mattson.

Dolores is survived by her children, Cindy Richards of Council Bluffs, IA, and David (Brenda) Fort of Council Bluffs, IA; five grandchildren: Julia (Craig) Krapfl, Christopher (Jenni) Richards, Michelle Barta, Joshua (Larissa) Fort and Courtney Fort; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Carlson of Blue Springs, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation with the family will be held at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, May 27, from 9:00 – 10:00 AM.
