Obituary

Dolores Marie Helle, the daughter of James and Fairy Rose Clark Van Cleave, was born February 29, 1932 in Yale, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 22 days. Dolores was raised in Yale, Iowa and graduated from Yale High School in l950. She attended cosmetology school in Des Moines. Dolores worked as a beautician in Storm Lake, IA and then owned and operated a salon in Rembrandt, IA. Dolores was united in marriage to Leroy A. Helle on October 21, 1951 in Yale. They made their home in Rembrandt for six years. In 1962, Dolores and Leroy moved to a farm north of Red Oak, where they lived and farmed for 45 years. She worked for the Learning Resource Center in Red Oak and Stanton. For 27 years, Dolores was an election poll worker in Montgomery County. She was a hospice volunteer and a past 4-H leader. Dolores was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also involved with the Book and Quilting Clubs in Red Oak, and enjoyed the neighborhood clubs. Dolores and Leroy moved to Glenwood in 2005 and were active in Glenwood's Trinity Lutheran Church. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Helle on September 19, 2006; daughter, Sarah Kay on May 1, l959; son, Eric on January 22, 2005; and son-in-law, Kreg Greenfield. Dolores is survived by her two daughters: Elizabeth Maas of El Paso, TX and Ann Marie Greenfield of Glenwood, IA; 4 granddaughters: Annette Helle and partner Duran, Cindy Helle and Katherine & Kari Greenfield; great-grandson, Dylan; sisters: Roberta Russell of Jamaica, IA, and Barbara Kipp and husband Richard of Yale, IA; and brother, Lee Edward Van Cleave and wife Frances of Dawson, IA; other relatives and many friends. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Glenwood, Iowa Rev. Seth Kaiser, Officiating Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak on Wednesday, August 24 at 3:30 p.m. Visitation with the family present at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Angels Touch Dementia Program. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
