Dolores Jean Olig, the daughter of Herbert and Sophia (Lidwin) Wichman was born May 24, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She passed away suddenly on Monday, August 21, 2023, in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 28 days.

Dolores was raised in Montana. She earned her license as a Registered Nurse and worked as both a nurse and a rancher while living in Montana. Life took her to Lamoni, Iowa, where she worked with Dr. Nelson and at an area nursing home. She later moved to Crescent, Iowa, where she was the director of nursing at Northcrest Nursing Home. She met Paul Olig while at Crescent, and they were married in 2000. Dolores and Paul lived in Omaha, Nebraska, before they moved to Emerson, Iowa. Dolores worked for Physicians Clinic in Red Oak until she retired. In 2022, Dolores and Paul made Red Oak their home. Dolores was an accomplished artist, with talents in paintings, pottery, lithographs, and sculpting, along with gardening. She and Paul both were Patriot Guard Riders, helping with many funerals. Dolores was a great mother to her children and a foster parent to other children.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Hentz; and brother, Herbert Wichman.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Paul Olig of Red Oak, IA; sons: Kenneth (Chellie) Hentz of Independence, MO and Joseph Hentz of Hinsdale, MT; daughters: Patricia (Paul) Dull of Hinsdale, MT and Sandi (Dana) Carlisle of Port St. Lucie, FL; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held at a later date.
