Obituary

Donald Charles Blake, the son of Charles V. and Wilma P. (Matheny) Blake, was born February 19, 1943, at Glendale, California. He passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Accura Healthcare of Stanton, Stanton, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 20 days.

Don was raised in Blockton, Iowa, until he was eight years old, at which time the family moved to Atlantic, Iowa. In 1961, Don graduated from Atlantic High School and attended Peru State University in Peru, Nebraska. He moved to Des Moines, Iowa, and in l965, to Red Oak, Iowa. On August 18, 1979, Don was united in marriage to Marcine Dea Nissen at Irvington, Nebraska, and they made their home in Stanton, Iowa. Don had worked at Hunt's Super Valu, Uniroyal, Mt. Arbor Nursery, and at the packing plant in Hancock, Iowa, before his 19-year career with the Montgomery County Secondary Roads Department, Red Oak. Since 1980, Don had been a faithful member of the Assembly of God Church in Red Oak. He served on their board for many terms, was an usher and custodian for years, and helped with the youth in the Royal Rangers program. Don enjoyed being outside and especially fishing.

Don was preceded in death by his parents.

Don is survived by his wife, Marcine Blake of Stanton, IA; children: Robert Blake of Dallas, TX, Gregory (Debbie) Nissen of Gig Harbor, WA, Marcus (Ann) Nissen of Omaha, NE, Kristine Nissen of Gig Harbor, WA, Rebecca (Mike) Graham of Gretna NE, Marriah (Clint) Furrer of Tucson, AZ, and Donielle (Jeremy) McHugh of Murdock, NE; 13 grandchildren; brothers: Walter (Donice) Blake of Norwalk, IA and Richard (Norma) Blake of Kansas City, MO; brothers-in-law: Robert Dea, John (Sally) Dea, James (JoAnn) Dea, Richard (Delores) Dea, Daniel Dea, Philip (Marie) Dea and William Dea; sisters-in-law: Patricia (Tom) Honeywell, Rebecca Dyer, Cecelia Dea and Laurie Dea; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held on
Friday, April 12, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at
The Assembly of God Church of Red Oak, Iowa

Visitation with the family present will be held Thursday, April 11, 2024, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
