Donald James Hayes Sr., the son of Harry and Della (Haines) Hayes was born March 17, 1948, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Glen Haven in Glenwood, Iowa, at the age of 74 years.

Donald attended school in Oakland where he lived most of his life. In 1978, Donald was united in marriage to Kathleen Jo Binns and in 1985, they divorced. Donald farmed until 1989, when he began working at Iowa Fittings in Oakland; he retired in 2004. Donald was a beautiful woodworker and enjoyed fishing. In his later years and with declining health, Donald lived with his son, John. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Della Hayes; brother, Ronald Hayes; and granddaughter, Alexis.

Donald is survived by his children: Elizabeth Christensen of Harlan, IA, Donald Hayes Jr. of Hancock, IA, John Hayes Sr. of Emerson, IA, Misty (Jordon) Springer of Lincoln, NE, and Harold Seberger of Council Bluffs, IA; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Memorial Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Fairview Pioneer Cemetery, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.
