Donald Wayne Herring, the son of Harry and Lucinda Foster Herring was born June 29, 1931 in Adams County, Iowa near Corning. He died on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 77 years and 11 days. Donald was raised in Corning, Iowa and graduated from Corning High School. He served his country with the Iowa Army National Guard while living in Corning. Don moved to Red Oak in the late l950's. He was united in marriage to Anne M. Hultquist on June 18, 1961 in Red Oak, Iowa. Throughout Don's career he worked for McKenzie Drug Store, Medicare Equipment, Uniroyal and for the City of Red Oak's water department from which he retired. Don and Anne enjoyed square dancing and danced with the Henderson Grand Squares. He also enjoyed: road trips, fishing, baking cookies and making french toast for the grandkids. Don was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. He was a past volunteer firefighter and Jaycee member. Don was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers: Floyd, Erve, Cleo, Gene and Francis; and sister, Leola Elwood. Don is survived by his wife, Anne M. Herring of Red Oak, IA; daughters: Annette Paul and husband Darren of Red Oak, IA; Donna Roby and husband Mike of Red Oak, IA; and Kelly Bond and husband Doug of Red Oak, IA; 9 grandchildren: Mandy Knapp and husband Jeff; Jen Hale and fiancée Adam Wenberg; Susan Niswander and husband Tony; Jason Paul; Bailie Skidmore; Alex Roby; Alison Ewing and husband Chad; Jeb Bond; and Tyler Bond; 4 great-grandchildren: Brendan Knapp, Marshall Knapp, Ethan Wenberg, and Anna Wenberg; sisters-in-law: Kathy Herring of Ankeny, IA; and Catherine Herring of West Des Moines, IA; and Karen Turner and husband Jared of Bedford, TX; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
