Doris Lorraine Allquist, the daughter of Johann Henry and Wilhelmina Stoecker Emmeck was born June 29, 1922 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. She passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 6 months and 8 days. Doris lived in Minnesota until the age of 15. In 1937, she along with her family moved to Ralston, Iowa. Doris graduated from Scranton High School in l940. She moved to Indiana and began working for Montgomery Wards Catalog Company. In 1950, Doris transferred to the Montgomery Wards store in Red Oak to be closer her family. On September 25, 1952, Doris was united in marriage to John Harold Allquist in Carroll, Iowa. They made their home on the Allquist farm until l982, when they moved into Red Oak. Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Red Oak. She enjoyed fishing as a youngster in Minnesota, and as an adult loved to travel, taking many trips with the VIC bank club, along with playing cards with friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Harold on May 1, 1995; 4 sisters: Florence, Irene, Leona and Lois; and 4 brothers: Fred, Alvin, Paul and Emery. Doris is survived by her brother: Roy Emmeck and wife Evelyn of Pelion, SC; nieces, nephews and a host of friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Fred Pilecki, Officiating Visitation with the family on Monday, one hour prior to the funeral service at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home A memorial is being established in Doris?s name.
