Doris Pauline Fort, the daughter of Jesse and Hazel (Bruington) Wynn was born October 25, 1926 in Lenox, Iowa. She passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Accura Healthcare, Stanton, Iowa, the age of 90 years, 11 months and 8 days.
As a child, Doris lived in Lenox, Villisca and Red Oak where she also graduated from high school. On September 1, 1944, Doris was united in marriage to William "Bill" Fort in Red Oak, IA. Following Bill's military service in 1946, they returned to Red Oak. Doris worked for the telephone company before becoming a fulltime homemaker for their young family. After Bill lost his vision in August of 1967, Doris began her career as the bookkeeper for Red Oak Machine. She also became Bill's caregiver and more importantly, his eyes. Doris assisted Bill with his woodworking projects by staining his work. She enjoyed stitching, cooking, making photo albums, taking trips to Branson, MO, and was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Red Oak. Doris loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly and especially treasured the time shared together over family meals.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William "Bill" on May 24, 2012; sister, Bernice Carlson and husband, Keith; brother, Bob Wynn; sisters-in-law, Betty Crowe and husband, Jim and Joyce Gesiriech; and brother-in-law, Richard Carlson.
Doris is survived by her children: Linda Wollenhaupt and husband, Lee of Red Oak, IA; Trudy Jenkins and husband, Bryan of Wales, IA; Vicki Norton and husband, Steve of Lincoln, NE; and Jeffrey Fort and wife, Kelly of Stanton, IA; 11 grandchildren: Ryan Atkinson of Griswold, IA; Tracy (Shane) Johnson of Stanton, IA; Jana (Shawn) McCunn of Stanton, IA; David (Corrine) Jenkins of Red Oak, IA; Daniel Jenkins (special friend Sarah Schiefelbein) of Council Bluffs, IA; Jacob (Whitney) Fort of Council Bluffs, IA; Justin (Reagan) Fort of Owasso, OK; Jenni (Nick) Stock of Camdenton, MO; Jordan (Maci) Fort of Bellevue, NE; Angie (Trevor) Jenkins of Shellsburg, IA; and Kristin (Brandon) Morgan of Lincoln, NE; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Jack (Dolores) Fort of Red Oak, IA and Rollin Gesiriech of Urbandale, IA; sister-in-law, Mary Carlson of Blue Springs, MO; and special cousin, Jeanne Doughten of Ankeny, IA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation with the family present will be held Thursday October 5, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
