Obituary

Doris Esther Embree, the daughter of Eric and Esther (Anderson) Rosenquist was born March 18, 1926 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at her home in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 19 days.

Doris was baptized and confirmed at the First Covenant Church in Red Oak. When she was 12 years old, her parents passed away and was raised by her uncle and aunt, Anton and Elsie Peterson. Doris graduated from Griswold High School in 1944 and attended Commercial Extension School in Omaha, Nebraska. She worked for Mutual of Omaha and Sherwin-Williams. On June 4, 1946, Doris was united in marriage to Lisle Bryce Embree at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, and they made their home on the family farm west of Elliott, Iowa. In 2003, after 57 years on the farm, they moved to Regency in Red Oak. Doris enjoyed gardening, helping Bryce with the farm and traveling. She and Bryce traveled in their motor home to Alaska, Mexico, Maritime Provinces, and to many other U.S. states. Doris was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Griswold, Iowa.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bryce Embree on July 7, 2006; son, Wayne Embree; grandson, Jeffrey Embree; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marie and Carl Clauson and Ramona and Ned Embree.

Doris is survived by 3 grandchildren: Jason (Jennifer) Embree, Melissa Mendez, and Cody (Sterling) Embree; and 6 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Donna Embree; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa. Family and friends may meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for procession to the cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held Monday evening at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
