Dorothy Jeanette "Jan" Beeson, the daughter of Ray C. and Carmalita D. (Malmburg) Cozad was born September 14, 1920 in Garfield Township of Montgomery County, Iowa. She passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Red Oak Healthcare Community, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 7 months and 23 days. Jan lived her entire life in Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School and attended Red Oak Junior College. Jan was united in marriage to Donald J. Beeson on July 20, 1945 in Red Oak. She was a dedicated employee at the Thos D. Murphy Calendar Company for 43 years. Jan was an avid softball player and enjoyed being outdoors. She loved gardening, especially tending to her flowers and tomatoes. Jan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Oak. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; son, Patrick Beeson in l982; sisters, Marie and Virginia; and brothers, Robert and Harold. Jan is survived by her husband, Donald of Red Oak, IA; two sons: Bill Beeson of Winterset, IA and Bob Beeson of Riverside, IA; seven grandchildren: Rob Beeson, Ryan Beeson, Robin Culbertson and husband Scott, Jeff Beeson, Joe Beeson, Jennifer Lyons and husband Ron, and Jim Beeson; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial for Jan Beeson, 92 of Red Oak will be held Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Oak. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Father Tom Kunnel, Officiating Visitation with the family will be held Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
