Following his honorable discharge, Ed moved to Albany, Missouri, to attend horology school for watch repair and jewelry. Ed worked for Burns and Wallick Jewelry, selling and repairing jewelry and clocks. In 1964, Ed and Jean bought the business, which was renamed Larson Jewelry, until they closed in 1975. Ed then worked for Smith Jewelry and later Berggren Jewelry for many, many years. He was well known for his clock and watch repair, well into his 90s. Ed was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, where he sang in choir, served on the board and was active in the men's group.
