Obituary

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Miller, the daughter of Ennis and Essie (Conn) Holmes was born October 20, 1934 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 13 days.

Betty lived her entire life in Red Oak. In 1952, she graduated from Red Oak High School. She furthered her education at Clarinda Junior College, Clarinda, Iowa, and began working for the Thos D. Murphy Calendar Company. On August 9, 1957, Betty was united in marriage to Kenneth D. Miller in Red Oak. To this union three children were born, Cheryl, Kenna and Steven. Betty stayed at home to care for their children and also served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Later over the years, she worked at Moore's Donut Shop, Pamida, Super America, H-R Photography and Dollar General. Betty enjoyed attending all the children's activities and was one of the founding members of the Red Oak Tigerette Tag-A-Longs. She loved working crossword puzzles, playing games, cribbage, crocheting, knitting and bowling on the Friday Filles League. She also took time during her busy life to work at election polls. Betty was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. Betty always wore a smile and enjoyed visiting with people.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth on July 2, 1996; four brothers: Ross, Richard, Robert and Rex; and four sisters: Helen, Lucy, Rowena and Ruth.

Betty is survived by her three children: Cheryl Miller of Red Oak, IA; Kenna (Michael) Johnson of Maryville, MO and Steven (Stephanie) Miller of Red Oak, IA; four grandchildren: Corinne Miller of Council Bluffs, IA, Michaela (AJ) Baratta of Omaha, NE, Chloe (Trent) Nally of Maryville, MO and Annika Johnson of Maryville, MO; great-grandson, Brooks Nally; and also her beloved cocker spaniel, Brady; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.

First Christian Church, Red Oak, Iowa

Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA

Visitation with the family will be held Friday evening, May 7th at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church or The Tuesday Girls.

Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
