Eloise Virginia Palmquist, the daughter of Zenas and Olga Anderson Hultquist was born September 2, 1921 near Stanton, Iowa. She passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 15 days. Eloise was raised in the Stanton and Wallin area and attended school in Stanton. She was employed at Spurgeons Store for several years and later, was the manager of the Tot Shop for three years. Eloise was united in marriage to Howard Palmquist on March 21, 1954 in Red Oak, Iowa. They made their home on a farm southwest of Stanton. Following her husband's death, Eloise attended classes and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for 16 years. Eloise moved to Red Oak in the fall of 1985. She enjoyed gardening and vacation bus tours. Eloise was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stanton where she taught Sunday school for several years, and active with the Covenant Women. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard on April 28, 1966; and brothers-in-law: Everett Mullen and J. M. Anderson. Eloise is survived by her son, Clayton Palmquist and wife Kim of West Chester, IA; grandson, Alex Palmquist of Des Moines, IA; brother, Merlin Hultquist and wife Relda of Red Oak, IA; two sisters: Doris Mullen of Corning, IA and Arlene Anderson of Loveland, CO; many nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
