Obituary

Elva Schultz was born on a farm in Wayne County, NE on March 3, 1904 to Otto and Ellida Pearson Danielson. She entered into rest on Friday, December 14, 2007 at Stanton Care Center, Stanton, IA at the age of 103 years, 9 months, and 11 days. In 1905, the family bought land in Cedar County, south of Laurel, NE. Elva attended county school at District 75 for one year and then District 76 until she entered Laurel High School. She participated in girls? basketball and was a member of the campfire girls. In 1914, she became a member of the Laurel Presbyterian Church. In the fall of 1921, Elva went to Wahoo, NE to attend Luther College for her Senior High school classes and to obtain the Normal Training requirements to become an elementary teacher. Here she also played girls? basketball and sang in the Handel?s Messiah Chorus given at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She enjoyed all her teachers at college and graduated in May of 1922, taking the State?s test for receiving a teaching certificate. She graduated Cum Laude from Wayne State College with a BA degree in Education in 1960. Elva taught school for 36 years in Saunders County and 3 in Cedar County touching the lives of many children. Her teaching career included: 3 years in a county school near Laurel, NE; 5 years at Malmo Public School; 2 years at District 79; 25 years at District 75; and 4 years at District 61. On March 28, 1931 Elva married John K Schultz at the Presbyterian Church in Laurel, NE. They made their home on a farm near Malmo, NE. They joined the Edensburg Lutheran Church at Malmo in 1934, where Elva taught Sunday School classes and Senior Bible study. Elva continued her membership through out her life at Edensburg Lutheran Church in Malmo. She was also a member of Ceresco Chapter No. 198; Order of the Eastern Star; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma; and a charter member of Retired Teachers Association in Saunders County. Elva?s husband, John K., passed away in 1978. She lived three more years on the farm and then moved to Wahoo, NE in July of 1982. On April 19, 1997 Elva moved to Halland Village in Stanton, IA and entered Stanton Care Center on September 23, 2005. Preceding Elva in death is her husband: John K. Schultz; parents; brothers: Dan and Mauritz Danielson; sisters: Erika Floden, Pluma Obermeyer, Marie Danielson; and Lois Lute. Elva is survived by son: John Schultz and wife Grace of Stanton, IA; grandchildren: Kathryn Johnson and husband Chris of Sidney, IA; John Joe Schultz and wife Lynn of Omaha, NE; and Dawn Dramse and husband Dave of Papillion, NE; great grandchildren: Abby Johnson and friend Chris Wederquist of Omaha, NE; Brandon Johnson and wife Kami of Norfolk, VA; Kylee Schultz of Omaha; Akela and Jaden Dramse of Papillion, NE; sister: Florence Lute of Laurel, NE; brother: Carroll Dean Danielson and wife Norma of Belen, NM; sister-in-law: Kathryn Danielson of Boulder City, NV; a host of relatives, students and friends. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Edensburg Lutheran Church, Malmo, Nebraska Burial in Union Cemetery, rural Malmo, NE Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli and Vicar Darwin Garton, Officiating Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at Sellergren Lindell DeMarce Funeral Home from 7:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. A memorial is being established.
