Obituary

Ermabeth Christine Long, the daughter of John and Christine Kienle Smoley was born August 21, 1916 in Marengo, Iowa. She passed away on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 30 days. Ermabeth was raised in Marengo, Iowa and graduated from Marengo High School. She attended Business College in Des Moines, Iowa. Ermabeth was united in marriage to Vernon P. Long on June 21, 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She and Vernon moved to Red Oak in l938. Ermabeth enjoyed doing needle-point handwork and flowers. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Oak Chapter #95, both of Red Oak. Ermabeth was a volunteer with the American Heart Association in Red Oak for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernon on November 26, 1957; and sister, Alice Franck. Ermabeth is survived by her son, B. Wayne Long of Overland Park, KS; and daughter, Margaret K. Long of Sheldon, IA; other relatives and a host of friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. At Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak, IA Burial in the Grant Cemetery, Grant, IA Rev. Nancy Schultz, Officiating Open Viewing after 1:00 PM on August 21 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home. A memorial is being established in her name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
