Eugene Arthur Fritscher, the son of Robert Henry and Esther Elizabeth Stillman Fritscher was born June 8, 1930 in Hastings, Minnesota. He passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Bryan LGH East Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska, the age of 81 years, 7 months and 4 days. Gene was raised in Hastings, MN. He entered the U.S. Army in January of 1948, serving during the Korea War, and was honorably discharged on March 28, 1953. Gene returned to Minnesota and worked for a packing company. He then began a 30 year career as an over the road truck driver with Pacific Intermountain Express PIE. Gene was united in marriage to Jean A. ""Jeanie"" Wallin on October 4, 1975 in Omaha, Nebraska. They continued to live in Minnesota and made their home at Martin Lake Stacy, MN until Gene's retirement in May of 1990, when they made their home in Stanton, Iowa. He was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church, the American Legion Ernie Johnson Post 406, the Stanton Chamber of Commerce and the Double Dozen all of Stanton. Gene was a sweet and quiet man who loved being outdoors; fishing and traveling. He was an avid golfer and spent several years enjoying golf with Carl Albert Johnson and the Southwest Iowa Golf Association. He was a past board member of the Villisca Golf Course. Gene was an avid reader and history buff. He treasured spending time with friends and family visiting over coffee or playing cards at Virginia's ""White City Inn"". Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Edith Fraser; niece, Pamela Fraser; brother-in-law, Lamont Wallin and father-in-law, Raymond Wallin. Gene is survived by his wife, Jeanie Fritscher of Stanton, IA; mother-in-law, Ruth Wallin of Stanton, IA; sister-in-law, Janet Dinville and husband Duane of Stanton, IA; brother-in-law, Gerald Fraser of Forest Lake, MN; nephews: Matt Dinville and wife Amy of Waukee, IA; and James Fraser of Stacy, MN; nieces: Andrea Abel and husband Greg of West Des Moines, IA; Sara Wallin of Council Bluffs, IA; Sandra and Samantha Wallin of Waco, TX; Kathy Fraser of Stacy, MN; Valarie Martin and husband Michael of Temple, TX; Susan Olson and husband Bruce of Hanover, MN and Cindy Fraser of Elk River, MN; other relatives along with many friends.
