Obituary

Eva ""Ava"" Marjorie Ferguson, the daughter of Miller and Elizabeth Michielsen Kyndesen was born November 26, 1920 in Exira, Iowa. She died on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Stanton Care Center, Stanton, Iowa at the age of 91 years and 4 days. Eva grew up in Brayton, Iowa and graduated from high school in Exira in 1938. She was united in marriage to Charles Henry Ferguson on June 15, 1941 in Brayton, Iowa. Eva lived in Brayton from 1942 until 1946 while Charles served in the army during WW II. Following Charles's honorable discharge, they moved to Harlan where they lived four years. Eva and Charles then moved to a farm near Brayton and later moved into Brayton to open a restaurant which they operated 10 years. In 1961, they made their home in Red Oak, where they became the owners of Charlie's Skelly from 1963 until 1980. Eva had worked for Montgomery Ward and also assisted with the bookkeeping for Charlie's Skelly. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and WELCA, and a 63 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Brayton. Eva enjoyed playing cards, dancing, camping and bowling. She had been a resident of Stanton Care Center since 2004. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles on July 20, 1995; a sister and two brothers. Eva is survived by her son: Charles M. Ferguson and wife Mary of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter: Sandra Bates and husband James of Stanton, IA; 5 grandchildren: Todd Ferguson of Colorado Springs, CO, Tamara Lowe and husband Paul of Colorado Springs, CO, Trisha Avery and husband Norman of Colorado Springs, CO, Brenda Parker and husband John Eli of Smithville, MO, Brian Bates and wife Jacque of Stanton, IA; 8 great-grandchildren: Kalyn, Rayna, and Jayda Lowe, Shawn Avery; John, Daniel and David Parker, and Thomas Bates; as well as other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Monday, Dec. 5, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home, Red Oak Burial in Evergreen Cemetery Rev. Dr. George Hooper, Officiating Visitation with the family present Sunday afternoon, December 4 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Memorials to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
