Evelyn Louise Penry, the daughter of Wayne and Jessie Givan Brooks was born June 11, 1925 in Red Oak, Iowa. She died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Red Oak Rehab & Care Center, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 21 days. Louise was raised in Red Oak, graduating from Red Oak High School in l943. She worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone Company after high school. Louise was united in marriage to Donald F. Tillman on March 11, 1946 and to this union, eight children were born. Throughout Louise's career, she was as a nursing assistant, a fry cook at Moore's Donut shop and a cashier at Place's Store. On June 27, 1980 Louise married Lloyd Penry in Corning, Iowa. Louise treasured her family and felt her most important job was being wife, mother and grandmother. She truly loved caring, nurturing and cooking for them. Louise was a longtime member of Pilot Grove Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Red Oak. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, dancing and embroidering quilts for her children and grandchildren. After Louise and Lloyd retired, they enjoyed traveling the United States. Louise was preceded in death by her parents, three sons: John, David and Richard; granddaughter, Alison Tillman and brother, Marion Brooks. Louise is survived by her husband, Lloyd Penry of Red Oak, IA; five children: Jane Perea of Ft. Collins, CO; Jean Bozwell and husband Gary of Red Oak, IA; Diane Limkemann and husband Joe of Cedar Falls, IA; Dennis Tillman and wife Sue of Red Oak, IA; and Linda Schomburg of Red Oak, IA; step-children: Carol McMullen and husband Robert of LaPlace, LA; and Peg Mader and husband Robert of Novinger, MO; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; sister, Maxine Ross of Corvallis, OR; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, IA Rev. Fred Pilecki, Officiating Visitation with the family will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home.
