Obituary

Everett Lee "Red" Malmquist, the son of Einer E. and Bertha (Bishop) Malmquist was born October 21, 1925 at Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 1 day.
Everett was raised in Red Oak, where he graduated from high school. He served in the Army and Merchant Marines during World War II and the Korean War. After returning to southwest Iowa, Everett went to work for Iowa Power and Light. He spent his entire working career working in their gas division. Everett enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting. He was known for his large garden and giving produce to many people. Everett loved to eat and spend time at the Rainbow Café.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard "Dick" Malmquist and sister, Blanche Elaine Fahey; half brother, Clarence Main.
Everett is survived by nieces: Cathy Newberry of Savanah, MO, Jamie Hossle and husband Michael of Emerson, IA; and nephew, Scott Malmquist of Henderson, IA; four great-nieces and nephews: Robin Wright and husband Marc of Savanah, MO, Robert Newberry of St. Joseph, MO, Nathan and Megan Hossle of Emerson, IA; and two cousins: Diane (Jim) West of Florence, CO, and Carol (Danny) Stammeyer of Cedar Rapids, IA; other relatives and friends.

Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.

Burial with military rites at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak
Rev. Caryn Pedersen, Officiating
Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday, November 28 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
A memorial is being established in Everett's name.
