Florence H. Gray, the daughter of Otto A. and Mary L. Dannelly Abel, was born March 29, 1919 in Mills County, Iowa. She passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 90 years and 14 days. Florence was raised in the Red Oak area where she was a 1937 graduate of Red Oak High School. Florence was united in marriage to Hubert Leonald Gray on December 16, 1939 in Glenwood, Iowa. In 1942, they moved to Hawthorne, California where Florence worked for the Northup Defense plant. In 1946, Florence and Leonald made their home back in Red Oak. For many years, Florence was an accountant for J.D. Oil Company and Faunce's Store. She also prepared income taxes for countless people. Florence was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a 50 year plus member of the Oak Chapter #95 Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonald on May 15, 2001; and two brothers: Lloyd and Harvey Abel. Florence is survived by two nephews: Robert N. Gray, Jr. and family of Eugene, OR and William R. Gray and family of Kansas City, MO; niece, Jean Rogers of CA; great nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Earl and Margaret Moe of Mitchell, SD; along with many friends. Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Len Taylor, Officiating Open Viewing Thursday at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. A memorial is being established.
