Obituary

Flossie Mae Lasley, the daughter of William E. and Anna Marie Magdalena (Koch) Barber was born August 3, 1923 at Mound Valley, Kansas. She passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 92 years and 28 days. Flossie was raised at Centralia, Kansas. She graduated from high school at Seneca, Kansas. Flossie was united in marriage to Raymond Lasley on September 5, 1942 at Maryville, Missouri. She moved to a farm near Stanton, Iowa in 1956, making this her home. While on the farm, she loved raising chickens, sheep, rabbits and working with dairy cows. When her girls were young, Flossie served as a leader for the Brownies, Girl Scouts and 4-H. Flossie had also worked for Spurgeon's and Murphy Calendar Company. She attended college at Creston and Clarinda before working with Heartland Home Health of Red Oak. In 2001, she moved to Red Oak. Flossie loved researching family genealogy, and collected many albums of family history. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and embroidering. Flossie was a past member of the Methodist Church, Faith Community Church and attended the First Baptist Church in Emerson, Iowa for many years. She became a resident of Good Samaritan Society in November 2012. Flossie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Betty Jean Bowman and Joyce Hannah; two brothers: Earl Barber and William Barber; two step-daughters: Donna Wachter and Barbara Lebeck; and four step-grandchildren: Connie Taylor, Dennis Butcher, Terry Wachter and Cindy Howrey. Flossie is survived by three daughters: Nadine (Clyde) Sellers of Red Oak, IA; Sharon (Ron) Hultquist of Red Oak, IA; and Lois (Joe) Hartley of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren: Mark (Kelly) Sellers of Aurora, NE; Mike (Vicki) Sellers of Red Oak, IA; Missy (Don) Torbett of Red Oak, IA; Stephanie Houchins of Kansas City, MO; Aaron (Ivy) Hultquist of Belle Plaine, IA; Phil (Maria) Hultquist of Chicago, IL; and Ben (Dongmin) Hultquist of Germany; five step-grandchildren: Rodney Wachter of Carter Lake, IA; Julie (Gary) Seminara of Carter Lake, IA; Sandy Pike of Omaha, NE; Keith (Kathy) Butcher of Omaha, NE; and Kathy (Andy) Rasmussen of Irwin, IA; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Ricky A. Rohrig, Sr., Officiating Visitation with the family present on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Bible Society or Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
