Freda Isabelle Schenck, the daughter of Luther and Laura Rush Hanson was born on July 20, 1911 in Red Oak, Iowa. She passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 99 years, 7 months and 6 days. Freda lived her entire life in Red Oak. For a short time, she was a sales clerk in downtown Red Oak. Freda was united in marriage to Arthur S. Waage on October 10, l942 in Red Oak, Iowa. Arthur died on August 30, l967. Freda was later united in marriage to Harvey S. Schenck on August 4, l988 in Fairfax, Missouri. Harvey died on November 2, l990. Freda was a member of the First Christian Church in Red Oak and a past member of the Eagles Auxiliary. Freda had a great sense of humor, and it was said, "she baked the best apple pies." Freda was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Byron and step-daughter, Betty Riggle. Freda is survived by her sister, Deloris Rickgauer of Tucson, AZ; step-daughters: Carolyn Tebrinke and husband Richard of Perry, IA; and Marian Walker and husband Arthur of Shenandoah, IA; 13 step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren. JoAnn Thomas, Officiating Open Viewing on Wednesday, March 2 from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home A memorial is being established in Freda's name.
