Gary Wayne Hardman, the son of Wayne and Geraldine Hamilton Hardman was born November 20, 1948 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, 3 months and 5 days. Gary was raised in Malvern, Iowa, graduating from Malvern High School in l967. He entered the U. S. Air Force in 1967, serving during Vietnam and was honorably discharged in l971. He moved to Red Oak after his military service. Gary was united in marriage to Marilyn Smith on October 1, 1976 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He had worked for Star-Agri, and then worked 26 years with D&L, later ROMECH. Gary enjoyed fishing with his girls and friends. He was a football fan, especially rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Gary loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father. Gary is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hardman of Red Oak, IA; daughters: Rhonda Hardman of Council Bluffs, IA; and Toni Hardman and companion Robert McMann of Red Oak, IA; four grandchildren: Ian Clark, Macenzi Clark, Cody Squires and Dru Hollingsworth; mother, Geraldine Hardman of Shenandoah, IA; sisters: Carolyn Studey of Shenandoah, IA; Terry Hardman of Red Oak, IA; Jeannie McFarland of Carroll, IA; and Cindy Hardman of Malvern, IA; brothers and sisters-in-law: James Darlene Smith of Virginia Beach, VA; Richard Sue Smith of Stuart, IA; JoAnn Joseph Blanda of Winter, WI; Patty Richard Carlson of Madison, IA; Mary Joe Fields of Onedia, TN; Rose Dunn of Hannibal, MO; and Dorothy Smith of Nevada, IA; many nieces and nephews along with other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak with Military Rites Rev. JoAnn Thomas, Officiating Visitation with the family at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m., 1 hour prior to the service. A memorial is being established in Gary's name. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
