Obituary

Gloria Kay Kinser, the daughter of Ivan E. and Jeanette Bartlett Briggs, was born December 19, 1938 in Red Oak, Iowa. She died on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital, Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 28 days. Gloria lived all her life in Red Oak, and was a Red Oak High School graduate. On October 20, 1953, Gloria was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Kinser in Red Oak, IA. She enjoyed children and for 23 years provided childcare in their home. Gloria then worked for CDS, retiring after 12 years. Gloria was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Red Oak. She loved music and playing the piano for her church and family. She also enjoyed being outdoors and growing potted flowers. Gloria and Kenneth were the first Iowa parents to adopt children from Seoul, Korea, and was so proud of that and their kids. Her main goal in life was to see her family knew the Lord. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; son, Nick Kinser; grandson, Travis Shearer; two brothers and their spouses: Howard and Marybell Briggs; and Eugene and Phyllis Briggs; sister-in-law, Kathy Briggs; and brother-in-law, Bill Vanderhoof. Gloria is survived by her husband, Kenneth W. Kinser of Red Oak, IA; daughter, Lori Lathrop and husband Lon of Red Oak, IA; grandson, Tyler Shearer of Omaha, NE; two step-grandchildren: A.J. and Chris Lathrop of Red Oak, IA; sister, Mrs. Carolyn Vanderhoof of Red Oak, IA; brother, Arthur "Bud" Briggs of Red Oak, IA; brothers-in-law: Leonard Kinser and wife Sharon of Omaha, NE; and Michael Kinser of Kansas City, KS; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Deloris Brown of Corning, IA; and Mrs. Joan Eyestone of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak Rev. Arlan Hoskins, Officiating Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene. Sellergren-Lindell-DeMarce Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
